A scattering of pieces from the Middle Ages and Renaissance though the emphasis is post Renaissance.

Ball, Richard and Peter Campbell. Master Pieces. New York: Hearst Books, 1983. (ISBN 0-688-02488-2)

While including a number of pieces from the middle ages and renaissance, the woodworking on these pieces includes a number of non-period techniques and interpretations. It should be used with caution.

The majority of this book deals with tools of the18th and 19th century eastern US despite its title. It does however contain a reasonable amount on Roman tools. Tools of the middle ages and renaissance are sadly under represented. And whatever the author may think 1596 is not "ancient".

A few medieval and renaissance pieces.
